SUPERFUND Site: Designed groundwater treatment system at a SUPERFUND site for removal of volatile organics (BTEX) and iron from a contaminated groundwater aquifer.
Port Elizabeth Brownfield Site, Elizabeth, New Jersey
EPA Regional Brownfields Assessment Demonstration Pilot: Performed site design engineering tasks to reclaim a Brownfield in the Port Elizabeth portion of the City. First phase of the project required coordination with the City of Elizabeth and the environmental engineer to develop an old chemical plant into a dredge material off-loading and processing plant. Site plan approval was obtained from the City’s planning board for the dredging plant. Second phase included the site design for a multistory flex space building on the remaining portion of the site. Tasks performed included the internal site grading, design of the asphalt cap, internal roadway design, the design of a sealed drainage system, coordinating the geotechnical work, scale house design, truck tire wash facility and the storage pads for the processed dredge material.
Hazleton Pumps, Hazleton, Pennsylvania
Research Project: Invented and developed an air stripping device from the hydraulic jett mixer originally developed for mixing of a neutralizing agent while simultaneously oxidizing the metals present in solution. The project included lab and field scale testing, resulting in a U.S. Patent being issued and a commercial device for the Company.
